The Bible Thinks Workshop

Register now for our latest Bible Thinks Workshop located at Hope College on April 25th-26th to discuss how the Bible’s thought world applies to a range of modern topics. FREE FOR ALL TO ATTEND

Click the video below for a quick overview of the things we will discuss.

This workshop is designed for interested lay folks, ministry leaders, and pastors for the sake of exploring the expansive intellectual/spiritual tradition of Scripture. The biblical thought-world can hold its own with the ancient Greeks and modern scientific enterprise alike, and yet we often don’t understand how Scripture’s “thinking” can guide us through the thorniest issues in our culture.

This workshop will help participants learn to think alongside the biblical authors by accessing the coherent systems of ideas across the Old to New Testaments that not only permeate our own cultural and intellectual traditions, but also offer a sophisticated critique of our society.

This workshop will be especially helpful for those who struggle with the reasonableness of the biblical texts, or those who do not understand how the biblical tradition has shaped much of Western thought, even while Western culture has not always accurately handled the biblical texts.

We will focus on:

  • Building confidence in understanding the thought-world of Scripture
  • Putting our culture’s questions to the biblical texts
  • Generating enthusiasm for deeper engagement of Scripture
  • Reaching assurance that we have heard from God through his prophets
